Kappas' & Real Men Cook Haiti Relief Dinner Sale initiative
The Philadelphia Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated, in collaboration with Real Men Cook®, is hosting a "Dining with the Kappas" an old-fashioned dinner sale fundraiser from 4-9 PM on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at the Kappa Alpha Psi Achievement Center (5521-29 Germantown Avenue in Philly) to raise money and awareness for the victims of the devastating earthquake in Haiti.
This local event is part of a nationwide "Dining with the Kappas" fundraising effort started within Kappa Alpha Psi in January under the fraternity's iKare (International Kappa Action Relief Effort) banner. This event is one of the more unique efforts taking place under iKare. The food prepared will range from baked chicken (by Ramondo Frank) and fish (by Brian Butcher) to collard greens (by Ken Dupree), sweet potatoes (by Mister Mann Frisby), baked ziti (by Ken Lesesne), and more.
100% of the event's net proceeds will be donated to iKare and earmarked for Haiti relief. The Dining With The Kappas Dinner Sale set to take place on Saturday, February 27 promises to be a tasty food party with a purpose. Those wishing to patronize the event and support the iKare cause can choose an eat-in or take-out option. The price range for platters to be sold is $12-$14. 100 Black Men of America, The Michael Baisden Show & National CARES Mentoring Movement Issue National Call To Action During Mentor Training Day Event In South Florida
The 100 Black Men of America, Inc., National CARES Mentoring Movement and The Michael Baisden show have issued a national challenge to encourage adults to become more engaged in the community as mentors. This cross-country campaign will officially launch during the 100's annual Chapter Summit in south Florida on December 12th beginning at 1 p.m. at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church of Carol City. 100 Black Men of Central Virginia, Representatives from 100 Black Men of America, National CARES Movement, Big Brothers Big Sisters, The United Way, local faith-based organizations, various community groups and more will be in attendance to educate participants about various mentoring programs and opportunities in their respective organizations.
"Both Michael Baisden and I have deep roots here in the south Florida area and are equally committed to making an impact in the same neighborhoods and communities that once nurtured us both," said Dotson, who in addition to serving as Chairman of the 100 Black Men of America, is also a south Florida resident. "While the members of the 100 gather from across the country and convene our annual Chapter Summit in Miami on December 9 - 13, our foremost goal is to always deposit back into the community we visit by igniting a fire for mentoring and volunteering that will burn in the hearts and minds of leaders in that area."

Taking a Brother to Worship Day
Pastor Keith Goodman, Sr. honored the 100 Black Men of Philly at the North Philadelphia Seven-Day Adventist Church at 16th and Oxford Streets. The congregation called all fathers, stepfathers, mentors, co-workers to participate in their "Taking a Brother to Worship Day!" Pastor Goodman reminded the men of the area that they need nnot be perfect or "Godly" to do divine works.

100 Black Men of Philly Caribbean-Style Networking Fundraiser
100 Black Men of Philly gathered for fun fundraising at The Reef Carribean Restaurant and Lounge at 605 South 3rd Street in Philadelphia. Along with the good spirits and socializing, the 100 Black Men of Philly and guests were addressed about the need to support widespread completion of the coming 2010 US Census to maximize federal funding allocations for local services.
